UP TIGHT POP MUSIC TELEVISION SHOW

AUSTRALIA

I used to watch the pop music program, Up Tight, on television every Saturday morning. It had a lot of variety, a lot of pop music acts, who sadly mostly mimed their own music. Ross D. Wylie did a stirling job in presenting the show. My only disappointment was that the show featured very little hard rock and/or blues artists, which I was really into. Oh well, it was good at the time. So what do we have now on television in comparision to Up Tight? 'Rage' I suppose. Music programs on free-view television in Australia is pretty much a deadland, and there is so much good music out there too.

RADIO STATION 3XY 1957

AUSTRALIA

Here is an advertisement of Victorian (Australia) radio station 3XY extending their wishes to the newly-published magazine TV-Radio Week. Date of publication : 5 December 1957.

I was born exactly 4 years before that advertisement (and the first issue of TV-Radio Week) so I probably wasn't aware of what radio was all about, or television for that matter. It was interesting to read that radio station 3XY was the only 24-hour station on-air in Victoria.
