STAR TREK MEDALLION COINS

There is so much merchandise pertaining to the Star Trek concept. Back in 1975 Hallmark released the Star Trek Medallion Coins, sculptured in solid jeweler's bronze. Each solid-bronze medallion shows the sculptured likeness of the TV show's favourite heroes. 'It's a collectors item' Hallmark states 'each is one-of-a-kind with its own mint serial number on the rim of the coin.' And it only costs $7.95. Hallmark also released medallion coins of Spider-Man, The Hulk, and Conan the Barbarian.

ACTION COMICS UK

Here is an advertisement promoting the first issue of the comic Action, published by IPC Magazines UK, in 1976.

Action was a controversial weekly British anthology comic that was published by IPC Magazines, starting on 14 February 1976.

Concerns over the comic's violent content saw it withdrawn from sale on 16 October 1976. It reappeared the following month, in toned-down form, and continued publication until 12 November 1977, at which point it was merged with Battle Picture Weekly. Despite its short lifespan, Action was highly influential on the British comics scene, and was a direct forerunner of the long-running 2000 AD.

DINOSAURS TV SHOW

I totally enjoyed this television show in 1990s. The humour was delightful and clever.

Dinosaurs is an American family sitcom that was originally broadcast on ABC from April 26, 1991 to July 20, 1994.

The show, about a family of anthropomorphic dinosaurs (portrayed by puppets), was produced by Michael Jacobs Productions and Jim Henson Productions in association with Walt Disney Television.

Above is a pin-up published by TV Week in Australia on 22 February 1992.

The magazine specifically highlights some of the recent Marvel comics of that period. There are lots of cover reproductions and featured articles and the occassional interview, and full spread pin-ups of comic characters. If there is anyone who wants these magazines, I am willing to let them go for AUD $10 (plus p&h) for the lot. If you are an Australian and you are collecting the weekly glossy magazine Marvel Fact Files, these Marvel Spotlight magazines are a good compliment to the series. DAVID HENLEY 'MANIFESTATIONS'

'Manifestations' by David Henley

Delve deeper into the eerily prescient future created by: David M Henley

Manifestations low res.jpgIn 2014, the power of social media is undeniable. In 2159, society is governed entirely by an evolution of the internet called the Weave. It tracks everyone’s activity, determines your level of status and implements the ever-changing will of the people.

David M Henley’s critically-acclaimed trilogy continues with Manifestations. The Weave has been left reeling after an explosion that devastated the city of Busan. And all the while, the most powerful telepath ever born marches steadily towards world domination, collecting subservient citizens in his wake.

About the Author:
David Henley worked in Australian trade publishing for many years; for the last 10 years he has been growing Xou Creative, a successful design and publishing studio. He has written and illustrated two novellas and one gift book, and is the art director of SEIZURE, a magazine for new writing.

KENNETH CALHOUN 'BLACK MOON'

Imagine a world without sleep. A world driven to the brink of exhaustion. A waking nightmare.

This is the world debut novelist Kenneth Calhoun has created in Black Moon – confronting one of our deepest needs, and fears, sleep.

Black Moon is a dark, hallucinatory and brilliantly realised debut and the movie rights have already been snapped up by ABC Studios, with Melissa Rosenberg (the screenwriter of the Twilight franchise) to write and executive produce.

The world has stopped sleeping. Restless nights have grown into days of panic, delirium and, eventually, desperation. But few and far between, sleepers can still be found – a gift they quickly learn to hide. For those still with the ability to dream are about to enter a waking nightmare.

Matt Biggs is one of the few sleepers. His wife Carolyn however, no stranger to insomnia, is on the very brink of exhaustion. After six restless days and nights, Biggs wakes to find her gone. He stumbles out of the house in search of her to find a world awash with pandemonium, a rapidly collapsing reality. Sleep, it seems, is now the rarest and most precious commodity. Money can’t buy it, no drug can touch it, and there are those who would kill to have it.
